Trouble Shooting Poor Temperature Regulation

This page lists problems that may affect the temperature performance of your Lux programmable thermostat with suggested resolutions.

Problem Resolution
Indicates incorrect room temperature
  1. Refer to thermostat manual to verify that your set temperature is what you expect it to be.
  2. Refer to your thermostats manual for calibration. Use this feature to adjust the displayed temperature up to +5°F(3°C) or -5°F(3°C) degrees.
   
Heats or cools more than 5 degrees
past its displayed set temperature
  1. Verify that the ON/OFF switch on the side of the unit is set to ON.
  2. Refer to thermostat manual to verify that your set temperature is what you expect it to be.
  3. Refer to your units manual to decrease the units swing value to a narrower setting.
  4. Verify that your units placement and mounting are reasonable per the installation section of it's manual.
   
No heat or cooling when expected.
  1. Verify that the ON/OFF switch on the side of the unit is set to ON.
  2. Refer to thermostat manual to verify that your set temperature is what you expect it to be.
   
Operational Test
  1. Set unit to heat mode. Adjust set temperature to at least 5 degrees below room temperature. Then adjust set temperature upward one degree at a time. Listen carefully for a soft click from the thermostat. This click should be heard near room temperature. Heat should operate immediately.
  2. Adjust set temperature down one degree at a time. Again listen carefully for a soft click from the thermostat near room temperature. Heat should switch off immediately.
   
Advanced Trouble Shooting
  1. This thermostat is designed to switch hazardous voltage. Qualified service personnel may use the following information to trouble shoot the system.
  2. The WIN100 uses a normally open single pole relay to control a heating or cooling system.
  3. In heat mode it should open when hotter than its set temperature and close when cooler than its set temperature.
  4. In cool mode it should close when hotter than its set temperature and open when cooler than its set temperature.
