Johnson Controls General Manager Thermostats Rob Munin to Participate on Panel at Smart Energy Summit

Philadelphia, PA, Feb. 20, 2019 – Johnson Controls General Manager, Thermostats, Rob Munin will participate on a panel discussion at the Parks Associates Smart Energy Summit being held in Austin, TX from Feb 18-20, 2019. Munin joins other industry thought leaders on a panel titled, Demand Response in the Smart Home. The session takes place on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 2:15 p.m.

Joining Munin are executives from SRP, Resideo and Con Edison. The panel, moderated by Denise Ernst of Parks Associates, will examine how Bring-your-own-device (BYOD) demand response programs are gaining momentum. Consumer adoption of smart thermostats reached 13% at the end of 2017, 32% of households own at least one product that can be controlled with their smartphone, and the popularity of voice control makes smart speakers with voice assistants a new key platform throughout the smart home ecosystem. Aggregators will play a role in this vision by eliminating friction as multiple players integrate their solutions into fragmented market. In this session, a variety of utility and smart home players discuss ways to change and improve control algorithms and engagement strategies as the smart home industry expands.

The tenth-annual Smart Energy Summit takes place February 18-20, 2019, at the Omni Downtown in Austin, Texas. Smart Energy Summit addresses the challenge and opportunity for utilities as consumer adoption of connected products and participation in renewable power generation increase. The event addresses the new approaches and solutions that are using connectivity and data to transform how energy is delivered.
